The 18th Annual Earth Day festival sponsored by the Islip Town Department of Environment Control and the Sayville Chamber of Commerce was held May 3, 2008 in Gillette Park, Downtown Sayville.

The KIC Junior Commissioners offered free t-shirt tie-dyeing and information on KIC Educational Program and Cans for Kids raised money to send a child to camp this summer. Free books give-away and exchange were available as well as Seedling Planting, a workshop conducted by the Sayville High School SWEEP Club.

Other activates included: secured bicycle parking available in the park,  earth-friendly vendors and exhibitors, entertainment with Ding Ding the Clown, Big Mike and the Blue Streak, Ken "the Rocket" Korb & Bruce MacDonald band and Blues and Ragtime Music.

At the event The Blue Island Seafood Market of Sayville, located at 11 Seaville Blvd, awarded a check for $1000 to Brianna Lind.

Blue Island Scholarship Fund was created by the Blue Island Seafood Market to award local students who show continuous support to the local environment  and are perusing an education in environmental science.

They were able to raise the award money through t-shirt sales: "I Dig Clams." T-shirts were also designed by Brianna Lind.
