Islip, N.Y. - Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan (second from left) and Councilman Christopher D. Bodkin (left) recently attended the 27th Annual Sayville Summerfest. Carnival rides, live entertainment, street vendors, and an international food court are among the main attractions of the popular festival, held in Gillette Park.

Nolan applauded residents and local businesses for their role in bringing Summerfest to Sayville. “I commend the business community and residents of this fine hamlet for the way they work together to make Summerfest one of the finest community events of the season,” said Nolan, adding, “the festival brings thousands of people to Sayville and increases the vitality of the downtown area.”

Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce President William Hoover (center) estimated that 50,000 visitors were expected during the three-day festival. All the revenue earned from the event goes back to a good cause - more parades, holiday lights, and festivals - according to Hoover, who said that festival proceeds are held in the Chamber of Commerce general fund.

The small army of volunteers who ensure a successful Summerfest at the event included: Community Ambulance, Sayville High School Clubs, The Pilot Club, Sayville Civic Association, Sayville Fire Department, Suffolk County Auxiliary Police, West Sayville Fire Department, Suffolk County Police Department and Community Oriented Police Enforcement (C.O.P.E).
