About New Life Community Church:
"New Life Community Church is proud of its affiliation with
the Reformed Church in America. Our denomination was
established on this continent 150 years before the
Revolutionary War. The Dutch Reformed Church established its
first congregation in New Amsterdam in 1628. That was the
beginning of the Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan.
The word Reformed comes from the Protestant Reformation,
which swept across Europe in the 1500's under the leadership
of such men as Martin Luther and John Calvin. Calvin's
reformation at Geneva spread to many countries, including
Scotland (where it became the Presbyterian Church) and
Holland (where it became our ancestor, the Dutch Reformed
Church).
Although Dutch in origin, the Reformed Church in America has
for decades included people of many different races and
nationalities in its congregations. The denomination's 2001
statistics report over 942 churches in the United States and
Canada with 291,300 active communicant members. Each
congregation is uniquely shaped by the needs of its people
and its community.
This congregation has enjoyed a rich heritage of good
biblical preaching, a strong program of Christian education,
and loving pastoral care. To belong to New Life Community
Church is to be part of a warm and caring Christian family.
The spirit of love and unity pervades this congregation. We
strive to to do the work of our Lord Jesus Christ by living
as a biblical community and restoring a lost and broken
world so loved by God.
The mission of God's Church here at New Life is "Helping
people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ."
There is no higher calling in life. The church must never
relegate itself to becoming a memorial society. We are not
the embalmers of the past, but the enablers of the present
and the empowered people for a new century. To be faithful
servants of Christ, we must do more than reflect on the
past, we must plan for the future and continue to serve in
the present".
