Islip, N.Y. - In a continuing effort to make Islip Town’s government more accessible to the public, Supervisor Phil Nolan will again host the successful Neighborhood Chat program he launched last Spring. A new round of “chats” will be held at public libraries throughout the Town beginning Monday, September 17, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., at the Connetquot Library, located at 760 Ocean Avenue in Bohemia.

During his hamlet-to-hamlet Springtime-chat tour, which brought him out of Town Hall and into ten public libraries, Nolan had the opportunity to meet with more than 500 residents. “When I took office, I put an emphasis on open and easy access to government. Neighborhood Chats give residents the chance to ask questions and air concerns without having to travel to Town Hall,” said Nolan.

Nolan will be accompanied by members of his Constituent Services staff, who were also present during the last series. “I established the Neighborhood Chat Program to give another opportunity for residents to receive assistance and meaningful attention to their concerns,” said Nolan. During the last series of Neighborhood Chats, the Constituent Services staff made note of specific issues and scheduled follow-up appointments with residents when needed.

"I am committed to making it easier for Islip Town residents to access their government - because I’ve been there, on the other side of the podium, trying to get my concerns addressed,” said Nolan.

In addition to the Connetquot Library event, Neighborhood Chats are also scheduled at the West Islip Public Library, on Monday, October 1, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; the East Islip Library, on Wednesday, October 3, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; the Central Islip Public Library, on Tuesday, October 9, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; the Hauppauge Public Library, on Wednesday, October 10, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; the Bay Shore Fire Department Headquarters, on Monday, October 22, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; the Sayville Public Library, on Tuesday, October 23 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; the Brentwood Public Library, on Wednesday, October 24, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and the Islip Public Library, on Wednesday, November 14, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
