There are a couple of reasons
for joining a gym but some that first come
to mind are listed below:
-
You should join a gym because
the first time you walk in the Cardio class, you’re a little
scared you’re not going to make it through the whole intense
workout.
- All your kids are in school and you’re badly out of
shape.
- The 10 errands you need to
run can wait and the world is not going to come to a
complete stop if you turn your cell off for 50 minutes.
- Your clothes don’t fit you right anymore and you have
trouble making it up the stairs without holding on to the
side rail.
- You prefer to sit on the sofa and watch a
supposedly good show instead of taking an invigorating walk.
- You choose to have a fat inducing meal as opposed to a
sensitive light dinner.
- You hide behind the excuse
that you have no time for yourself regardless of how much
time you really have.
- You have to cook for your family so you
might as well join them in the stuff-your-face contest.
- You only go out once in a
while and you have to eat your weight in gold since you
paid for it anyway.
- Or
better yet, you procrastinate and tell yourself you can
always do it later if you just put your mind to it.
Well, in case you do put your mind to it, your body will
thank you later but while exercising muscles will burn and
beg for mercy. The pain coming from parts of your body you
didn’t even know you had before will be so great that giving
birth will seam like a nice “stroll in the park.” The gym
instructor will cheer you on counting the no-end–in-sight
pushups and crunches and you’ll feel the end is near and
there isn’t enough air in the room to satisfy your aching
lungs. Arms will quiver and legs will shake but you keep
going because you know you had way too much food and a nice
fattening dessert the night before. Sweat will sting your eyes
and come through your clothes like the spin cycle but you
don’t stop because you know this is only the beginning. You
know the blubber hanging out of your last years jeans will
slowly and painfully disappear. You know you’ll be able to
look at yourself in the mirror and finally like what you see
instead of throwing your hands up in the air and covering
yourself with that faded black long sweater. After the
workout, at least for the first couple of days, you will
still hold on to the rail while going up and down the stairs
but this time it will be because your muscles had a wake up
call. Getting out of bed will be a new and excruciatingly
painful experience but that only means the fat once
comfortably settled around your waist will start packing its
bags.
