The Choral Society of the Moriches (CSM), now in its 70th season, will perform a Lenten concert of selections from Handel’s Messiah at the Sayville United Methodist Church (UMC) in a fundraising effort towards their Fellowship Hall Restoration Project.

Martha Campanile of Patchogue who has served as the Society’s Director for the past 11 years will conduct. Mrs. Campanile is also the Choral Director for BAFFA (Bay Area Friends of Fine Arts), and has served as an adjudicator at NYSSMA and director at SCMEA festivals. Although retired from teaching music in the Sachem School District, she continues to teach piano and voice to her private students.

The performance will consist of solos sung by April Lindevald, contralto; Stanley Shorr, tenor; Peter Halliwell, bass and Leslie McBride, soprano. The music will be played by a string quartet and Elizabeth Key on organ.

The concert will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at 4:00 pm. There will be a reception afterwards of hors d’oeuvres and hot/cold beverages. Tickets are being sold for a requested donation of $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Children’s tickets (age 12 and under) will be $10/$15 respectively. Childcare will be provided free of charge.
