On a warm sunny day in July,
former co-owner of the Sayville
Chocolatier, Donna Gestri, sat in the cozy surroundings of
Runaway Bay Books on Main Street signing copies of her first
published novel, For Jennie.
Amidst the book store's cozy
surroundings, Ms. Gestri answered the questions of friends,
family, former customers and passersby regarding the
inspiration for her book and why the setting was Bensonhurst.
Long time acquaintances of Ms.
Gestri were ebullient that her years of free lance writing
and pursuing a publisher had finally resulted in the
publication of this tender love story.
 The author is now working on a
manuscript entitled, Among These Shadows.
This story is also
set in Bensonhurst, but she is happy to report that the
1950’s town of Sayville makes a cameo appearance within its
pages.
