Bodkin Flotteron team win!

Voters turned out in force Tuesday, September 13, 2005 to catapult Chris Bodkin and Steve Flotteron to a huge victory over the Islip Town Republican Party-backed Phil Boyle and Jay Bowers. Bodkin and Flatteron opposed extending term limits that would allow Islip Town Supervisor Pete McGowan to run for another term. Christopher Bodkin and Steven Flotteron waged a tremendous grass roots effort gaining 4,400 signatures and finally winning a court decision to get on the ballot.

Last night, in Campaign Headquarters located at the Van Kemenade Paint and Wallpaper store every time new poll numbers were called there were cheers and thunderous applause. The numbers looked good from the beginning and they stayed on top for the rest of the night to the delight of all the supporters present.

Republicans and Democrats alike turned out in numbers to support the effort. Among the supporters were Republican Islip Town Councilwoman Pamela Greene and Democratic State Assemblywoman Ginny Fields. The victory party was put together by the long time owner and friend Tony Brinkmann, Pat Brinkmann and their daughter, Mary Brinkmann, who kept the spirits up by updating the numbers on the board.

The unofficial final results were: Bodkin 5787, Flotteron 4707, Boyle 3167, Bowers 2376. Although, "the "final" results will take a few days, as the Board of Elections audits all the machines and counts the paper ballots and absentee ballots. This was a great victory!" Mary Brinkmann said.
