The following story was written by one of the 3rd grade students in Mrs. Geraldine Batterberry’s Class, Cherry Avenue Elementary. “The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs” by Betty G. Birney was the inspiration behind the story.
Do you know about the Seven Wonders of the World? Well, I will tell you about my Seven Wonders of Sayville.
One of my Wonders in Sayville is Sayville Sports – they are fun and active and they make you strong and fast. Sayville Sports, ROCK!!!
ISA is my second Wonder. It is fun to have your birthday parties there. Also fun, because if it rains, it’s indoors.
The Great South Bay is my third Wonder. I enjoy swimming and sailing in the summer. What a great time I always have in The Bay!
Ralph’s Ices is my fourth Wonder. I love to go to Ralph’s for ices on hot steamy days in the summer. My favorite flavor is Cotton Candy and Root Beer.
My fifth Wonder is the Maritime Museum. I love going to the boat burning with my dad every year. It looks like a bomb fire (bonfire). . They also have cool old wooden boats.
The West Sayville Golf Course is my sixth Wonder. I love taking lessons with this guy, Bill. He is very nice and the golf course is very nice to play on.
My last and BEST Wonder is Cherry Avenue School. The best school in Sayville and the BEST Teacher is Mrs. Batterberry.
