Kids Corner - The Seven Wonders of Sayville

Brendan's Story > 13 of 21 Stories - more to come soon >The Seven Wonders of Sayville

The following story was written by one of the 3rd grade students in Mrs. Geraldine Batterberry’s Class, Cherry Avenue Elementary. “The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs” by Betty G. Birney was the inspiration behind the story.

There are seven wonders of Sayville as far as I’m concerned. If you ever come to my town, these are places you should definitely visit. Let me tell you about them.

My first wonder is the one and only Sayville Library. Have you ever taken out a book from there? Well, I have and the hardest part is picking out which one to choose. The choices are endless.

My second is Dunkin Donuts. If you’ve never been there, then you’re not normal. The doughnuts are so good! So go before the Shipment runs out.

My third wonder, well, that’s easy, The Common Ground. There are special events all year long. There is also a maze which is a doozy. It’s a hot spot.

My next is Marc Anthony’s pizza. The competition is tough. I think it’s the best one around these parts. Who doesn’t love pizza?

My fifth wonder is the Foster Ave. Park. I love this park because it’s on the beach. It’s the prettiest place in Sayville.
My sixth is the Maritime Museum. Here you can learn about early Sayville and its connections with the bay. This brings me to my last wonder: the Great South Bay.

The Great South Bay is my favorite body of water. On the bay you can boat, swim, sail, clam, crab, fish and even water-ski. It has something for everyone in town.
