Chris Reccardi

Chris Reccardi is a multi-talented animation artist, painter and musician

Chris was born and raised the youngest of nine children who moved from Sayville to California in 1986 to pursue his passion for art, animation and music. With the help of a relative in the business, Mr. Reccardi worked at getting into animation for two years before earning his first job on “The Ren and Stimpy Show,” where he spent five years as a director, writer, artist and musician.  Twelve years following, Mr. Reccardi has contributed his numerous artistic talents to several award-winning animated projects including “The Powerpuff Girls” and the critically-acclaimed “Samurai Jack;” where in 2002 he won a Reuben Award from the National Cartoonists Society for his storyboard work.  Additional artistic credits include last year’s hit film “Shark Tale” and the upcoming “Shrek 3.”  This past year, Mr. Reccardi received his second award nomination in the form of a 2005 Annie from the Association International du Film d'Animation  (International Animated Film Association) for Character Design in an Animated Television Production for “The Powerpuff Girls – West in Pieces.” He has also directed “Hercules” and “Xena” direct-to-video features from Universal, and presently is co-producing a new original animated short for Nickelodeon, set to debut in May 2005.

For the past five years, Mr. Reccardi has showcased his painting in Burning Bush Art Auctions.  His work has sold consistently to collectors of all tastes, and continues to be featured in prominent galleries throughout Southern California .

A multi-instrumental musician, Mr. Reccardi has also composed and performed music for “The Ren & Stimpy Show: and “IMP, Inc,” an animated short film for the Cartoon Network.  He plays with several local groups throughout Los Angeles , and performs original music with his new band, RE. 

Mr. Reccardi lives in Los Angeles with his wife, award-winning cartoonist, pinup artist and painter, Lynne Naylor.
