Feel Good While Doing Good |
Every sixteen minutes,
someone in America loses a parent,
child, spouse, cousin or friend to suicide. Sayville
health practitioners, Christine Gizoni, D.C. and
Elizabeth Casey, L.Ac. want to help change this
tragic statistic. To that end, they are planning a
fundraiser to help AFSP, the American Foundation for
Suicide Prevention. The day’s events will take place
in their office at 26 Railroad Avenue, Sayville, on
Saturday, November 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dr. Gizoni, Ms.
Casey, and Reiki Master Daria Jarmel will be
offering mini-treatments that day for a minimum
donation of $20 per healing session. Larger
donations to the cause will, of course, be
gratefully accepted.
Modalities available
will include community acupuncture, food sensitivity
testing through applied kinesiology, and fifteen
minute sessions of craniosacral therapy and chair
Reiki. Janet Schlageter, R.N. will be on hand to
answer questions, collect donations and keep things
running smoothly.
To book one or more
treatments, or for more information, those
interested should call Elizabeth Casey at
631-218-2652. Information on suicide prevention can
be found at

Alex's Lemonade Stand -
Sayville children raise money for
Alex’s Lemonade Stand
Foundation for Childhood Cancer |
The
Concept of Alex's Lemonade Stand
In 2000, a 4 year old cancer patient named Alexandra
"Alex" Scott announced a seemingly simple idea -she
was holding a lemonade stand to raise money to help
"her doctors" find a cure for kids with cancer. The
idea was put into action by Alex and her older
brother, Patrick, when they set up the first "Alex's
Lemonade Stand for Childhood Cancer" on their front
lawn in July of 2000.
For the next four years, despite her deteriorating
health, Alex
held an annual lemonade stand to raise money for
childhood cancer research. Following her
inspirational example, thousands of lemonade stands
and other fundraising events have been held across
the country by children, schools, businesses, and
organizations, all to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand
Foundation for childhood cancer. On August 1st,
2004, Alex died peacefully at the age of 8 -- she
had raised over $1 million for childhood cancer
research in her short lifetime
Please take a moment to visit our online fundraising
page and make a donation. It's really easy - you can
donate by credit card and receive a record of your
donation.

All donations are secure and sent directly to Alex's

Lost at
Sea Cruise |
|
Please join us on Saturday,
July 22nd, 2006, from 8 pm to 12 pm for a
Dinner/Benefit cruise. A buffet dinner and open bar will
be available and the Mid Life Crisis band will be playing
for your entertainment. Ticket prices are $75 a person
with all proceeds donated to Kevin Scudero’s medical fund.
Kevin is suffering from Huntington's disease. Huntington's
disease (HD) results from genetically programmed
degeneration of brain cells, called neurons, in certain
areas of the brain. This degeneration causes uncontrolled
movements, loss of intellectual faculties, and emotional
disturbance. HD is a familial disease, passed from parent
to child through a mutation in the normal gene. Some early
symptoms of HD are mood swings, depression, irritability
or trouble driving, learning new things, remembering a
fact, or making a decision. As the disease progresses,
concentration on intellectual tasks becomes increasingly
difficult and the patient may have difficulty feeding
himself or herself and swallowing. The rate of disease
progression and the age of onset vary from person to
person. Kevin and his family are currently paying for his
medical expenses. Any help we can give him will be a
tremendous benefit. Kevin is a class of 1990 Sayville High
School graduate. In addition, he was a star player for the
Sayville football team from 1987-1990.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kevin’s story. We
hope to see all of you for this worthy cause. Your help is
greatly appreciated. For more information, visit
www.mlcrisis.info
and see show dates.
YOU MUST BRING YOUR TICKET TO GET ON THE BOAT!!!

Cocktail Party to Honor the Memory of Sean Cone |
|
Sean
died suddenly on November 9, 2005. He had been diagnosed
with a rare form of arthritis about a year ago. Because of
his illness he was unable to work, so he moved his family
to North Carolina in hopes of a more affordable way of
life. Sean was born and raised in Sayville. He graduated
from Sayville schools, after which he worked for Bancker
construction. Sean married Colleen Martino in 2003 and
soon after they had a baby girl Makayla, who just turned
one in October. Sean was buried in North Carolina since
his wife and daughter plan to stay there. We would like
the opportunity to honor Sean's memory here in Sayville
because so many people have expressed how much Sean has
meant to them. We are trying to raise money for Makayla's
future. Without having a father she will face many
obstacles in life so hopefully we ca offset some financial
burdens that may lie ahead.
Event was held: March 31, 2006
Place: Land's End Restaurant, 80 Browns River Road,
Sayville
For more information about the event or if you would like
to make a donation call Stacey at 589-5030
