You can also hike through Connetquot park in Oakdale, Caleb State park in Smithtown. Sayville Bike Works (Jeff the owner) on Mtk. Hwy. W. Sayville across from the W. Sayville FD Jeff will inform you about road biking groups. If you mountain bike google C.L.I.M.B. (concerned long island mountain bicyclist) they have trail infor, organized rides and trail maintainance info.) For kyaking
MASK (Metropolitan assoc. of sea kayakers) my husband thinks they are out of Nassau county. If you want to buy a kayak: Action Sprts store in Oakdale on Mtk. Hwy. Out east Peconic Paddler in Riverhead sells kayaks and you can go kyaking out of there. If you have a kayak already there are lots of places to put your kayak in the water.
