Starting at
Midnight on November 10, 2006, the Smith-Wever American Legion
Post #651 in Sayville, New York, began a 11-hour detail of
“Walking Post” in honor of Veterans Day.
The ceremony
started at precisely Midnight on Friday the 10th. Members of
Smith-Wever Post #651 then continued to Walk Post throughout
the night, until 11AM on Veterans Day morning.
Long Islanders were invited to
attend the ceremony at 11AM, as well as to pay homage to
Veterans by showing up throughout the night to support this
effort. |
